The 3QRS M3 and M3 Pro use a nominal 6° beam to concentrate light on a small area. A tight spot makes it easier to pick out details in a crevice, aim at a distant feature or direct a buddy’s attention with a light signal. A broad beam covers more of the scene when you need even lighting at close range, such as for wide-angle video.

What does 6° describe?

Beam angle describes the width of the main beam. In the Illuminating Engineering Society’s definition, the beam angle is measured between the points where intensity falls to half its peak. Light can extend beyond that boundary as a softer halo, often called spill. When comparing specs, check how each brand defines the angle and whether it was measured in air or underwater. Why two 6° dive lights can look different

Two beams can have the same measured width and still put different amounts of light into the centre. The LED, reflector and lens shape the intensity across the beam. One light can have a bright centre with a sharp edge, while another has a gentler transition and more spill. The result changes how clearly you see a detail and how much of the surrounding scene stays visible.

Lumens describe total light output. Peak candela describes intensity in the brightest direction. For a meaningful comparison, look at both alongside beam photos or intensity plots. Compare photos taken at the same distance, exposure and output setting. Underwater, suspended particles can scatter light back toward you, so clear water and silty water can produce very different results with the same light.

How M3 and M3 Pro use a 6° beam

The M3 Compact Dive Light delivers up to 1,900 lumens in a compact body. The M3 Pro Dive Light delivers up to 3,400 lumens and gives you stepless brightness control. That lets you adjust output for a nearby subject or a more distant feature while keeping the same optical beam angle. Both are rated to 250 m and designed for underwater and outdoor use on land. The depth rating describes the light’s operating depth. How far you can see depends on the conditions.
